Five 3D simulations covering Topic 4: the elements in biological molecules, how large molecules are built from small ones, the food tests, vitamin C with DCPIP and the structure of DNA. The tab marked Extended is for the Supplement.
Carbohydrates, fats and proteins are all built mainly from carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Proteins also contain nitrogen, and some contain sulfur. Turn each molecule and pick an element to see where its atoms are.
The large molecules in living things are made by joining many small molecules together. Starch, glycogen and cellulose are all made from glucose; proteins from amino acids; fats and oils from fatty acids and glycerol. Join them up, then break them back down as digestion does.
Five tests show which nutrients a food contains. Choose a food and a test, then watch the colour of the solution. Test the mystery samples and use your results table to work out what is in them.

DCPIP is a blue dye that vitamin C turns colourless. Put 1 cm³ of DCPIP in a test tube and add the juice one drop at a time, gently shaking, until the blue just disappears. The fewer drops needed, the more vitamin C the juice contains.

DNA is two strands coiled into a double helix. Each strand carries a sequence of bases, and bonds between pairs of bases hold the strands together. The bases always pair the same way: A with T, and C with G. Build the second strand, then unzip the molecule.
Five interactive 3D simulations for Cambridge IGCSE Biology 0610 topic 4 Biological molecules: the elements in glucose, fats and amino acids as 3D models, starch, glycogen, cellulose, proteins and fats built from smaller molecules, a food tests bench with iodine, Benedict's, biuret, emulsion and DCPIP tests on ten foods, measuring vitamin C by counting drops of juice into DCPIP, and building and unzipping a DNA double helix.

Biological molecules is a free, browser-based simulation for Cambridge IGCSE Biology 0610 (topic 4 Biological molecules). The course is assessed in Paper 1/2 (Multiple choice), Paper 3/4 (Theory), Paper 5 (Practical Test), Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical). Syllabus for examination in 2026-2028. There are 5 tabs, each a self-contained experiment with its own controls and live readings, and nothing to install: it runs on a laptop, tablet or classroom projector.
