Capacitors and capacitance

A capacitor stores charge, and its capacitance C = Q / V measures how much charge it holds per volt. Connect two capacitors in series or in parallel and the combined capacitance changes in opposite ways. Set the values and the supply voltage and read off the stored charge.

Mission Predict the combined capacitance of two capacitors in parallel. Streak 0Best 0
Two capacitors in parallel have a total capacitance equal to:
combined capacitance100 µF
charge stored Q = CV600 µC
In parallel the capacitances add (C = C₁ + C₂). In series they combine like resistors in parallel: 1/C = 1/C₁ + 1/C₂, giving less than either alone.
