Coulomb's law: force between point charges

Two point charges attract or repel with a force given by Coulomb's law, F = Q₁Q₂ / (4πε₀r²). Like charges repel, opposite charges attract, and the force falls off with the square of the separation. Change the charges and the distance and watch the force arrows respond.

Mission Predict the effect on the force of doubling the separation. Streak 0Best 0
If the separation r is doubled while the charges stay the same, the force becomes:

The two forces are always equal and opposite. F ∝ 1/r², so moving the charges twice as far apart cuts the force to a quarter.
