Two Motions, One Flight

A projectile moves at a steady horizontal velocity while it accelerates downward under gravity, and the two are independent. Launch one, then turn on the vertical twin: a ball thrown straight up at the same vertical speed but with no sideways motion. The dashed line shows they are always at the same height, and they land at the same instant.

Mission Fire the projectile and the vertical twin together, then judge when the twin lands. Streak 0Best 0
The vertical twin (same vertical launch speed, no sideways motion) reaches the ground:
horizontal velocity (constant)15.4 m/s
vertical velocity (changing)18.4 m/s
time of flight3.8 s
range / max height58 m / 17 m
Horizontal: x = (u cosθ) t. Vertical: y = (u sinθ) t − ½ g t². The projectile and the twin share the vertical equation, so they keep the same height and land together.
