Interactive Simulator · Beat the Noise

Analogue vs Digital

An analogue signal varies smoothly and can take any value, like the voltage from a microphone. A digital signal is just a stream of highs and lows, ones and zeros. Both pick up noise as they travel. The digital signal can be cleaned by deciding whether each part is a one or a zero, regenerating a perfect copy, but the noise on an analogue signal is mixed in for good. Turn up the noise and see which one survives.

Mission Add noise to both signals, then judge which one can be cleaned up. Streak 0Best 0

a digital signal is read as 1 or 0, so noise can be stripped away.
