Interactive Simulator · Focus the Image

Converging Lens

A converging lens bends parallel light to a single focal point. To find where an object's image forms, trace the standard rays: one parallel to the axis that then passes through the far focus, one straight through the centre, and one through the near focus that then travels parallel. Where they cross, a real, inverted image forms on a screen. Slide the object and land that image on the screen.

Mission Move the object until the sharp image lands on the screen. Round 1Streak 0Best 0
With the object well beyond 2F, the image is:
object distance u2.5 f
image distance v1.7 f
magnification v ÷ u0.67
1/f = 1/u + 1/v.
