Interactive Simulator · Read the Wave

Wave Features

Every wave has an amplitude, the height of a crest from the middle, and a wavelength, the distance from one crest to the next. The frequency is how many waves pass each second, and the period is the time for one wave, so period equals one over frequency. Match the faint target wave by setting its amplitude and wavelength.

Mission Match the target wave: set the amplitude and the wavelength to line up with it. Round 1Streak 0Best 0
If the frequency doubles, the period becomes:
amplitude0.30 m
wavelength4.0 m
frequency1.0 Hz
period (1 ÷ f)1.00 s
period = 1 / frequency. Amplitude sets the height, wavelength the spacing.
