Interactive Simulator · Current and Carriers

Count the Charge Carriers

A current is a flow of charge, measured by an ammeter in series. In the wires the carriers are electrons, drifting from the negative terminal round to the positive. Conventional current is drawn the other way, from positive to negative. A mystery supply drives the circuit each round: watch how the carriers move, decide whether it is direct or alternating current, then reveal the current-time graph to check.
